IOC enthralled by Soulful Music Awards

IOC Delegates arriving at the 10th MetroFm Music Awards
Over the weekend a few of the members of the IOC had the proud honour of experiencing a taste of some true Mzansi*youth hospitality. A 7-man delegation travelled from The City of Tshwane to Mpumalanga’s city of Nelspruit carrying an official invitation from the MEC of Mpumalanga to the 10th Metro fm Music Awards.
(Mzansi”: South African for: - South Africa) The awards, which are a celebration of exceptional South African creativity, proved to be as seductive to the international youths as the house music is to Jozi’s renowned night jols*. The event was opened by a thunderous roar of Harley Davidson motorcycles and super bikes by a biker gang known as 'the Sapronos' and continued it's high note until the very end mixing and blending some of Mzansi hottest DJ and performance talent. What was even more delightful to see was how the entire award ceremony was managed and run by the youth; a true reflection that South African youth are already playing a vital role in the development of the economy of the country. (“Jol”: South African for: - party, club, or a get together of youth)

The delegates received an overwhelming welcome, and even got to rub shoulders with some of South Africa’s top entertainment celebrities; some of which will be performing at the opening and closing ceremonies of the forthcoming World Youth Festival.
